#1 Forum Outage

Post by Heuer » Mon Mar 26, 2018 12:50 pm

Apologies for the disruption to normal service over the weekend. We are having to migrate the site to a bespoke hosting platform because the Forum is now too large and is using too many resources on the current platform. A victim of our own success it seems!

It will involve a greater expenditure in hosting long term but will hopefully result in fewer outages. Many thanks to Marcus Holland and E-Type UK for underwriting the server move and costs.

Echoing the thanks too David.

It is a wonderful forum for specific knowledge and general interest. My partner thinks I am addicted.

She may have a point...

Another thanks for all the effort. I've been heavily involved with another Owners Club and forum for years and know it can sometimes be a thankless task. Just to say if you ever need to ask for an annual contribution towards hosting costs I'd be happy to chip in.

Yes thanks David, but look what has happened in the meantime. This all happened when the forum went down.

Friday Evening 5pm, investigating the squeaky brakes. Oil all over the rear discs and a whiff of petrol!

IRS Out. diff in bits, petrol tank out.

Petrol tank now fixed, output diff seals turn up tomorrow.

All in the blink of an eye.

From this.

To loads of bits.

Anyway well done in migrating the website David.

If I can add my thanks to all those above and say how relieved I am that the forum is back online. Withdrawal symptoms were getting pretty serious!

I was lost over the weekend! My wife asking if I had lost access to “all my little friends!” Well, we are back and echoing what has already been said; huge thanks to E-typeUK and David. This is a remarkably successful forum, and whilst it might be a nightmare to administer, I too would be only too happy to contribute a fee to be a member. Cheers guys, Barry.
