I would like to replace the tires on my 1974 Jaguar E-Type RHD Series 3 Roadster. Is anyone here familiar with Mickey Thompson Tires Sportsman S/T. Should I go for it?

I would avoid those tyres like the plague! They are aimed at American muscle cars which appear only to go in straight lines - I don't think they do corners. The E-Type is a very dynamic car so you need to stick with the tyres specified for it, in particular the VR rating which applies to maximum speed and weight/load.

Basically they would ruin the E-Type - Mickey Mouse tyres would be a better name in this context!

Go for Pirelli's if you have the money. Or Blockley if you are just an afternoon cruiser and not likely to explore the edges of the envelope so to speak...

Everything I have read suggests these (Mickey Mouse) tyres are a complete scam. Dunlop, Goodyear, Michelin et al are professional and respected manufactures with proven products. Keep clear of these clowns who sell rubber to be burnt.

Not so. I friend has a Toyota Tonka Truck, self built on a pickup bed. It wears Mickey Thompson tyres that are almost as tall as me. He’s driven around Europe and Africa across deserts and up mountains. The tyres are bullet proof (I wouldn’t be surprised if that was literally true), hard wearing and suited to their task.

That said, the tyre mentioned by the OP has a tread pattern identical to a cheap Korean import originally fitted to my car by its P.O. Methinks Mickey Thompson maybe re-branding tyres manufactured by others.

I run Mickey Thompson tyres and wheels on my Jeep Wrangler, quite highly respected in the 4x4 world

MT's not a bad tire...they are produced by another manufacturer. Might I suggest, since I have the same car as you, try a set of Goodyear Advantage,215 /70 series / 15 inch. Great in both wet and dry, long lasting (30K plus),and cheaper then a set of MT's. Sidewall has a bit of give to it to make city driving a bit more pleasant also.
