#1 Today’s crap parts

Post by tim wood » Sun Jul 15, 2018 1:54 pm

Well, another weekend as I try to move along on my RHD conversion. This time is just a few cosmetic parts that don’t fit.
A hazard warning decal (series 2 style) where the fixing hole is too small and the entire item is of appalling quality

A choke knob where the screw holes are again to small and the threads wrongly cut.

Another phone call on Monday and no doubt I will get these credited but that’s not the point. Still it’s better than a few weeks ago when I had a set of bulkhead pipes with the flanges fixed 180 degrees out.
And before anyone says that we should be grateful that our cars are supported by the supply chain remember that classic car parts are big and profitable business. Take a look at the filed accounts to see just how big this.

Rant over.

Series 1 FHC purchased 40 years ago. Courted my wife in it.
Series 1 2+2 when the kids were small now sold.
Series 1.5 OTS in opalescent maroon, Californian car. My retirement present.

I have to agree
The service is also very very poor
4 separate parts ordered from a well known supplier all in stock according to the new state of the art web site so order placed and acknowledged
1 week later I get an email 1 part is out of stock???
Would I like to have them sent or wait??? They are all in stock you told me when I placed the order They then also say if I want to send the out of stock part later this will incur a further carriage cost!!! Taking the Micheal

And before anyone suggest speaking to the man in charge I have emailed twice without even an acknowledgement or response. I even offered to write his banter page at my cost and do it on customer service because they just don’t get it

I ordered the parts because they were in stock not so I could pay double carriage charges

Poor very poor
