I did do the same measurement and came to the same conclusion, it will be tight for the fixing tabs.
I have lately reconsidered my decision to do the bonnet myself, I have been in contact with a classic car restorer who will do the job. The bonnet is such a big part of the cars appearance so I decided to take the cost and get the bonnet fixed correctly during the winter. Shall be interesting to hear his opinion regarding the thickness of the washers...
