No Registration Documents
#21 Re: No Registration Documents
No John, not interested for myself. If someone who lives further away wanted info and thought I could help, I'd pop along. But not interested for myself. At least this latest offering clearly says "for spares"

#27 Re: No Registration Documents
Booked an appointment to view it for Monday at 12:00. Arrived at 11:50 and the owner/Director of the company was not on site. The receptionist phoned him and was told the car had been sold on Sunday. I did manage to get a look at it from a distance. The picture frame was new and unstamped and the gbox and engine were not present. There were no identifying marks on the shell.
The work looked well executed and the paint work appeared very good, as to be expected from a professional bodyshop.Inside the car was a lot of bulkhead furniture all needing restoration, if it were to match the shell.
I was told that the interior and all other parts were stored in a container.
I expect if you had a S2 2+2 wreck and were looking to transplant it could work but at £25k any profit would be marginal.
Best of luck to whoever bought it, and hopefully they will bring it to this forum.
Regards
Pat

More than a coincidence ,this car is in too good, complete and restorable condition to not have its identity [for any good reason] , someone who ever they are have gone to the trouble of "removing" its identity ---engine , gearbox , bulkhead plate .
This guy should be made to answer the "silly" questions
Same with the other latest S2 2+2 offered

Yes, by the boys in blue

Quite so..You steal a car, flog all the bits, but how do you get money out of an identifiable shell? Easy if you know someone like this in the trade who will make an untraceable car out of it...

#31 Re: No Registration Documents
Maybe so but with Series 3s the Body Number which then counts as the VIN in my country is stamped into the fire wall so the identity can be determined. If it has been cut out and is missing or a new number inserted this can be determined by looking at the metallurgy in the area and registration authorities will start asking questions if this is the case. Each time my car has been inspected it is the body number they look at not the plates and tags.
Tags and nomenclature plates mean nothing where the VIN is stamped into the body.
