#1 Anything I must see while in London now?

Post by Vonkie » Fri Dec 14, 2018 9:25 am

Dear forum members from London

I am here with my family for a short stay (today until the 21st), heading to Anfield with my son on Sunday.

Are there any classic car shows/exhibitions I should be aware of and would have been silly to miss (the missus has booked us up quite fully, as is her wont)?

Tips appreciated!

Ascertained there’s a classic car show in Waterloo tomorrow, but we’re in Windsor. And it seems the London motor museum has shut down. Bummer.

The steam powered london bridge is cool. London eye is ok, and you may go to greenwich to „walk on the line“, but that takes some time with the thames ferry.

London bridge is powered by hydraulics not steam (sadly). The London Transport museum just off Covent garden is open and worth a visit....mostly trains and buses and trams.....no e types! Science museum. Greenwich and the cutty sark.....The Greenwich museum has the Harrison clocks...THE MOST AMAZING CLOCKS YOU WILL EVER SEE. Have fun......J

Went to Windsor Castle (again), and thought I could see the tail of the show as the fambly went off to the British museum (which I’d been to a few times) and the weather was still tolerable. By the time I got to Waterloo it was raining proper. Spotted a bloke in a beautiful old Plymouth and asked him where the show was. He said he was legging it home as there were ‘5 cars’. By the time I found it, there were 3. The 1960 T-Bird was worth seeing.
