I have had a positive experience with Julian about how to improve specific items, and posted here the positive results. This initiative proves how much he cares about his customers, and the least I can do is support it. Looking forward to meeting you guys then.

If its not to late I would like to add my name to the list.
As well as restoring Jaguars I also make parts for a firm supplying spares for racing AC cobras & another firm who supplies parts for pre 1970 Triumph motor bikes.
So I sit on both sides of the fence.

If the number has not been reached please count me in.
Richard Baxter - series 1 FHC
I agree with these comments:
I am very critical of the quality of aftermarket parts because, in my view, it shouldn't take any more effort to get it right than to turn out sub standard parts that customers then have to spend time making fit.
I've never really had any problems with service but I do have problems with delivery charges, which are often ridiculous and exceed the cost of the parts ordered. This is when you decide to wait and build up an order to spread the cost of delivery. The problem with doing this is it leaves an aspect of the job incomplete for far longer than is necessary. On other projects, where you can order from a wider range of suppliers, I find I can order parts from my phone at low cost and often without delivery charges all while working on the car. This keeps the project moving along.

Hello all, and hello and thank you to SNG. I think you folks getting involved to work with SNG in a positive way is a great thing. That being said, I would like to offer my deepest gratitude to SNG Barratt. Servicing old Jaguars, of any type, sadly, is a dying business. I am actually surprised they have not folded their tent, or looked for a strategic partner in order to survive. We all know why.....we are getting older, less and less vintage Jags on the road, trying to find an honest shop to assist with the care of your Jag locally is a thing of the past, and the youngsters of today could care less about restoring , or simply maintaining, vintage cars. I do the work on my 1973 E, but I am lucky....I have had it since new, never neglected it, still enjoy the routine maintenance, but I am getting old, and a day will come when I simply don't have the energy to even change a fuse. Reality. So I say BRAVO, and thank you, to SNG, and all the remaining vendors who help keep our beauties on the road !! One other thing......SNG, like the rest, have no control over the price of shipping, It is what it is, but can't blame, or criticize them. I'm sure they are as upset as the rest of us.

This sounds like a great idea but a bit far for me to travel.
I have one part that sticks in my mind for improvement-the fuel tank sump. I started a thread away back in 2014 about it:-
http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php? ... hilit=sump
It was completely the wrong physical size and the internal thread was too small to fit. SNGB were very apologetic and I received a refund without quibble. However I never found out the outcome of their stock check. I would like to know why the part was so wrong.
Cheers
Alan

If anyone else would like to participate please do not be shy - your input will be most welcome. Starting a restoration, finishing one, driving one or even thinking about it this is your chance to influence parts supply for years to come. Even if it is just to say "I was there".

#58 Re: SNG Barratt User Group
Sadly, as I have set out in a PM to David Jones ( Heuer ) ,because of my wife's serious illness I cannot now come on Thursday, which is a matter of great regret as I was looking forward to putting faces to names!
The one contribution that I might have made was to suggest that the very small mismatches in parts' sizes which occurs where the remake is of Asian origin - particularly Chinese rather than Indian - may result from unfamiliarity with the Imperial system and/or a short cut in conversions where the conversion may be taken as 25mm/inch rather than 25.4mm/inch. This would account for those very small discrepancies in hole centres which cause such problems when fitting
All the best to you all
Christopher Storey
