#1 Ultrasonic cleaner

Post by cactusman » Sun Feb 03, 2019 4:14 pm

So I got tempted and bought one after seeing a friends. Plan is to strip and clean the carbs but I did a first experiment using it to clean the grime off the reverse light lens and rear lights....45 deg C with some detergent....amazing. The grimy reverse light lens looked like new in 3 mins....early days but very promising

This is the cleaner

This is the detergent.

although you could probably use washing up liquid. 6 litre tank so big enough for carb bits methinks. The supplied main lead was awful - earth pin fell off after first use - but the unit itself has a standard IEC type connector and so far seems fine. Yet to try the carburettor parts (too cold to face getting them off the car) but I tried the plastic lens's and it was amazing.

The real advantage to ultrasonic cleaners is that they clean areas that are nearly inaccessible as long as you can get the immersion liquid into the tiny crevices and passageways. When you turn it on, you can watch the gunk just dissolve and float away from the dirty part. :bouncyyellow:

I can't see them either.

But here's a trick:

Quote the whole post as if to reply... now you can see the urls of the images. Right click, open in new tab, cancel the reply, job done.

David,

What is going on here? I still cannot see the pictures/links and cannot see the link posted by rswaffie (Richard) in his latest restoration update.

I'm using Firefox, fully updated. Invisible in IE and Chrome.

JagWaugh's trick works but that's not the point.

Thanks.

All the photos show for me. The links cactusman put up are to Amazon product pages and auto embed into the post. Try going to the bottom of the page and clicking on 'Delete all Board Cookies', exit browser and try again.

It just dawned on me.

The reason they weren't showing for me was that I run an adblocker. I just turned mine off, and now the links show.

Deleted cookies did not sort that.

Turned off my Kaspersky AV made no difference.

Turned off Kaspersky AV and re-started the laptop made no difference. I still do not see those Amazon links. I do not have an ad blocker (other than the Kaspersky) installed.
