#1 Pilkington Classic require our assistance
I have just got off the phone with Nick Gardiner of Pilkington Classic. They now have a list of all the glass they can supply for the S1 and S2 cars but they have no listings for the S3 car. Nick wants to know if anyone here has original windscreen, door, LH and RH quarter light and rear window glass from an S3 FHC that he can borrow to make patterns. He will arrange collection (or you can go down to the Factory if you want a look around) and the safe return of your glass once moulds have been made.
In addition they have no patterns for the S1/2 2+2 cars. Can anyone confirm if these are the same in whole or in part as the S3?
Here is the current list of glass along with the original logos they can apply:

#2 Re: Pilkington Classic require our assistance
I have two factory original front windshields here which I do not need. Both are dead - one has a deep scratch from driving without wipers, the other one has a large chip.
Now, I would be glad to give them away for free - say they could have them both, if we could get the freight arranged ? It would only be one way, no need to get them back. They could keep or scrap them.
I would remove the old tax stickers first ;-) and keep them with me. Maybe apply them later to my new screen.
All I need is one nice new one, which I want to have fitted by a professional. I would of course pay for it - maybe if there could be a bit of a rebate for my two factory windshields ?
Both my screens came from original cars - one from mine, the other from the chassis which Pete sold me 8 years ago. Both S1 2+2.
Please put me in contact....

Hi David,
Can I just clarify please- you say pilkington have no patterns for series 2, 2+2 Windscreen glass.
Mine was cracked and I asked Pilkington last year if they needed my windscreen as a pattern. They confirmed they would not need it and their HT0326 was what I needed. As such, mine has gone the way of the local tip.
Have I made a massive error?!
Many thanks,
Rich

David,
These logos are _not_ correct.
The correct logos look different.
Could you possibly contact me with someone at Pilkington regarding the logos?
I would gladly help as I did make an extensive research some time ago on these logos..

Hello, Tadek -
I worked with David Jones and Pilkington to revise its buck for the early E-type Series 1 coupe windscreen.
As I recall, Pilkington's logos are slightly modified from the original logos to accommodate U.S. and perhaps British) requirements for new auto glass. That said, I was very happy with the way the logos appear.

Well, This may be true - for the _early_ S1.
The logo on the '61 e-type was looking like this, I believe:
However, on the '63 it was looking like this:
and on the '67 it was probably like this:
So, for starters, there is no single logo in the 61-67 period.

The S3 2+2 screen is probably identical to that of the S2 2+2 . It will , however, be quite different from that of the S1 2+2 which does not extend forward at its centre in the way that the later +2 screens do

Thanks guys. Perhaps I should have made it more clear. They want original S3 glass parts to start with. My question relating to the earlier 2+2 cars was me trying to understand if any of the S3 glass was the same. Based on the parts manuals it seems the door glass is carried over but the screen and quarter lights have different numbers. Not checked the rear screen yet.
Once they have got the S3 FHC sorted then there will be a call for S3 OTS door and windscreen glass. Final call will be to sort out what is then required for the S1/2 2+2.

To clear up a bit of confusion Nick has got in touch with me:
"Thanks for posting also but perhaps I confused you a bit with the request, I have all of the windscreens for every car its just the doors and rear Qtr glasses I am missing for the S3, and 2+2 cars. Can you make a mention of that in the post because I don’t want people taking their time to mail me offering windscreens for me to just say I don’t need them.
Also RE the factory, we have moved now I thought you were aware so apologies for not discussing, we moved the Queenborough manufacturing facility to one of our specialist facilities in Finland at the end of 2017, we moved over 3,000 tools so now we ship from there to our Redditch distribution hub where I am based.
Best Regards
Nick Gardiner
Commercial Manager Pilkington Classics"
So we are looking to borrow S3 OTS and FHC door glass (they are not handed so a pair not necessary) and the rear quarter glasses which are handed. Ditto for the 2+2 cars - a door glass and both quarter lights.,

Hah,
I just offered him my 2 Series 1 2+2 windshields...
Now, it means I can simply order a new windshield for my 2+2, and will receive a windshield that fits ?
I still have to measure them for the US forum ...

Tadek
I received this reply from Nick regarding the logo's:
"Interesting reading about the trademarks on the thread – there are indeed certain items we now have to include we did not in the 60’s, the DOT code and the full BS857 text are some of those, in the early days simply the kite symbol was OK.
Also worth pointing out the logos there showing PLATE are referring to the method of raw glass manufacture which was at the time PLATE glass, we have not made glass in that way for decades, the process is now a FLOAT so that’s why clear glasses have FLOAT there instead; we cant use plate as it’s a misrepresentation of the material in use (also illegal). Anything Green we replace FLOAT with SUNDYM such as our marketing for the product was.
Worth pointing out though, if the cars concourse and not going to be on the road I can match the old style logo see below"

Many thanks David,
I am probably a PITA, but I was more referring to the fact that the TRIPLEX logo has changed to a thicker font in '62 or '63...
I will need a glass for my windscreen, I do you know if they still provide unmarked glass?

Yes Tadek they will supply glass without the logo and you can then etch your own logo on. Speak to Nick and specify the glass will be for display only.
