Hi all

I have been tracing the history of my E type 860084, 1961 FHC first one in Black, it was exported to the US in late 1962 by a Mr A G Fuller probably to Connecticut. I managed through lots of research and the kind help of JCSNE to find the likely second owner from 1969 in Middletown CT, from here owners in Detroit.

The car was originally registered ODX950 clearly visible in images from the 60’s in the US and mentioned in correspondence between the owners in the 60s and 70s, although the DVLA as yet do not accept this lot as conclusive proof - very frustrating given the volume of evidence.

If anyone as any suggestions on how this RHD car went from the UK to CT in the US in 1962 and especially if you happen to be Mr A G fuller ;-) I would love to hear from you!

Thanks
Kevin

Welcome to the forum
Have you been in touch with Jaguar Heritage to get a certificate? Also the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club https://jec.org.uk/ can be very helpful in talks with the DVLA.

Kevin,

ODX is an Ipswich registration mark I believe. I'm not sure if the records survive but you could contact the Kithead trust (http://kitheadtrust.org.uk) to understand if any of the registration logs are still around. Sometimes they still exist in county record offices.

This could be useful in reuniting the registration with the car.

Best of luck,

Will

Just to add to this, ODX was issued by Ipswich as already mentioned, between September 1961 and April 1962, and thus is consistent with the age of the car

Morning Kevin , hope your ultimately successful with the DVLA as its always nice to get back the original Reg.
I take it your car is the first 'RHD' FHC in black not the very first one in black ?

Thanks for the helpful replies. That’s correct the first RHD FHC in Black
