Just had delivered this new exclusive build book on a modified E Type, its fully illustrated
28 pages with words to explain each photo by one of Orpingtons leading authors ,






Just a shame it's just to late to order for this year's Christmas stocking filler

What a shame it's not available on Amazon.... My favourite kind of book..... Lots of pictures, not so many words....

Maybe I should convert my restoration blog into a book - but would there be any interest? Its all been done before...

I did something similar a few years ago.

I had a lot of fun sorting piccies and telling tales about the car, its history, and what I’ve done to it over the years.

It is more text than pictures.

And some of it is completely made up.


Recently I gave a copy to a close friend who is coming to terms with his second quite serious stroke. It has become his favourite book, not least because he is in it.

Is it "The Christmas Effect", this sudden run of photo-books about classic British favourites ?

Stocking fillers for sad old men who whine on about the cars of their youth ?



I've even found them hanging around my own house. (Ed - the men or the books ?)



Some fools even invent models that never actually existed in period,



appear to waste their lives making totally pointless parts,



and then have the nerve to expect us to believe spurious claims about power - viz



when everyone knows that a MiniVan only ever made 39 BHP on a good day,

and then they go and turn it all into an effing book !!

Waste of bloody paper and ink.

Ahem, just a question lads, and not that anything of the above concerns me in the slightest, but who did you get your books done by ?

I've always used PhotoBox but their studio/software is now a TOTAL shambles, never again - particularly awful for text.

Looks like you, Chris, used something better ? Could you share the secret ?

I’m still using Photobox. You can still use the old, Adobe Flash based version, although this limits you a little as you now can’t preview the book and it will only allow you to edit on a pc. I created and ordered one for the E a few years back and did one for my old GT6, which I created in the Flash editor over Christmas and it arrived yesterday.
Also, if you choose to start editing in the new version, then you can’t switch to the old and vice versa.

Hi I used Tesco photo book services about 10 days from completion to delivery also , if you don't add any entries within a month it i scraps your project , so it keeps you on your toes

I used BookWright by Blurb to set the text and pictures. Blurb printed the copies.
I wouldn’t say it was easy, it was quite fiddly but I did enjoy the process.

I use Book Wright too and agree it is quite fiddly.

The diary software 'Day One' is fantastic for maintaining a running diary on work, etc. I maintain various 'diaries' - general workshop jobs, trips and then specific restoration projects.

It is very simple to use and you can drag photo's, maps, etc into the pages really easily. Sadly the 'print book' software has never worked for me so I tend to print off pages at a time a store them in a file. But for usage it is a great product.
