A large german spares vendor has introduced their „wish price days“, its just this weekend only.
They say you can choose what you want from their catalogue, enter the price you would want to pay (reasonable, please), and they see what they can then do.
What do you think, a front windshield -which I need- is advertised at 589 €, and they advertise free freight above 100 €. At SNG its about 20 € more expensive, and there would be freight on top.
I am thinking about a 400 € offer, which they will then „correct“ to I guess 500 quid including freight.
Do it ? Of course I would send them my measurements first, to be 100% sure it will fit ? I do not know who manufactures their windshields...

Carsten, I would be careful buying if you don't know who the manufacturer is. There has been discussion her about screens that don't fit. I'm not sure if sending measurements will help as it's the curvature towards the outer edges that's the tricky part and IIRC that changed between the early and later S1 cars.
When Robey's did my bodywork I gave them the windscreen along with all the other body fittings (in case they needed it, which they didn't) and they lost it. Sent back someone else's screen, swearing it was mine, and it didn't fit. It didn't matter though as I bought a complete new set of glass from Pilkington Classics and they checked the date of my car before making the windscreen. And it did fit, more or less (a slightly tighter radius towards the edges would improve the fit of the rubber in my case).

Doesn't sound worth the hassle of what could go wrong , my advice would be to give Pilkington classic windscreen a call tell them what you have your get it and it will fit ,
Mine cost £400.00 and that was a custom build ( 1mm thinner on each lamminate)
Just my 2 pence worth

Dear all,
I failed several times with the windscreens of this German supplier due to horrible fitting; by the way: their windscreens are from a Chinese source.

Ok that was the info I needed, I am out, then.
I bought a set of indicators and rear lights for my 11CV, then, and will tackle that first.

Don't do this supplier at all.
They are the worst, I have ever experienced. One time I also tried to source a windscreen for my 62 FHC.
It was a special offer from them as well: -20%. But this did not pay the wasted time and the expierenced nightmare with these guys.
And when I had similar experiences with other deliveries and parts from this supplier, I decided; never again!!!
By the way: after 10 weeks of false promises and a wrong delivery, I switched to Idstein and had a windscreen with a very very tiny flaw for almost the same money the next day at the garage.
Cheap might not be the solution if you buy twice.... ;)
