An excellent purchase, brings back happy memories.
Since sorting out my late 69 car, I haven't posted that much about it because nothing has really gone wrong for a couple of years. I have just been using it!
It took me a little while and money to sort mine, which looked similar to yours. I have had it for over 4 years now.
I haven't had to touch the body on mine, or body fixings, or wiring. I converted to RHD prior to registration, the loom just needed shortening and re terminating behind the dash. It was a process that took a couple of days including fitting a new rack, flipping the indicator stalk over and new dash panels from Hutsons.
The rest of the car was basically been completely renewed/refurbished/replaced in the first 18 months of my ownership. I think the prop is untouched.
It now runs the original engine at 190 psi per cylinder on fuel injection and a big valve head. The diff is a 2.88 XJS unit.
It makes loads of power, is very smooth and runs very well through the gears and on the motorway. The 3.51 was really fussy at 80 mph.
It has been all over the place including the Nurburgring in blistering heat with no overheating problems. The Michelin 205 XWXs are worth their weight in gold.
Here is how she goes now.
It has never been taken off the road for more than a week. That has always been my objective. Keep it on the road. I have owned too many projects where the car seems to have been off its wheels forever. I didn't want that to happen this time. Here is a list of some of my posts over the years.
I bet you will come up against "hard gearbox selector O rings" and a few of the same issues as me.
Good luck.
