#1 PM Message wont send

Post by Steve1967 » Sun Apr 05, 2020 2:08 pm

Hi can someone clarify for me.....

When I send a PM message, all of them seem to stick in my outbox for ages before they go, which worries me if I have to leave the pc that it will not send.

I currently have one that I wrote early this morning which is still there, in the Outbox, while two others written at the same time have since moved to the "sent" box.

Is there a trick I'm missing? :scratchheadyellow:

Thanks for your help.

:yeahthat:

The way the Forum PM system works is that once you ‘send’ your PM it remains in your ‘Outbox’ until the recipient reads it. It then moves to your ‘Sentbox’. This gives you confirmation the PM has been received and read. A bit like the ‘pigeon hole’ system still used by many Hotels. So in your case the recipient has not got around to looking at his messages. The Forum automatically emails members when they have PM’s but some people think it is clever to delete their email address from their profile, so they do not get advised. We also put a message ‘pop-up’ as soon as people log on but some people again think it is a good idea to block pop-ups. The only remaining way of notification is we say “You have (1) new message” at the top of the screen (which I have now made flashing red) but some people ignore it!

Only thing I can suggest is you add a post to whatever thread you are interested in simply saying “PM sent”.

Thanks David and Steve, understand then, I was thinking it operated like Outlook. That all makes much more sense, thank you.

One thing, I dont get emails from you to notify that I have a PM. I have checked my profile and I have enabled this feature but I cant see anywhere to put my email address in.

Can you advise where this is? I have looked.

Many thanks, and thank you for making this such a great forum!

Regards
