#1 Diamond Jubilee E-Type's
"Jaguar is currently restoring six matching pairs of limited-edition E-Types, which will mark the 60th anniversary of the iconic sports car. The Jaguar E-Type 60 Collection models will be finished in time for the sports car’s diamond celebration in March 2021.
The special edition models will be built to the same specification as the two most iconic E-Types ever made – the 9600 HP coupe and 77 RW roadster – both of which played a pivotal role in the E-Type’s global debut in Geneva back in 1961.
Jaguar’s E-Type 60 Collection duo will feature a uniquely restored coupe and roadster, which pay tribute to these iconic cars. The former will be finished in a unique “Flat Out” Grey paint finish, which is near-identical to the colour of the original 9600 HP coupe. The latter will feature an exclusive “Drop Everything” Green paint scheme, which closely matches that of the 77 RW roadster’s British Racing Green finish.
Both cars will be powered by a rebuilt version of Jaguar’s famous 3.8-litre straight-six petrol engine, which developed 265bhp and 353Nm of torque. The engine provided enough grunt for a 0-60mph time of around seven seconds and a top speed upwards of 150mph, which, back in 1961, made the Jaguar E-Type the fastest production car in the world.
Prices for these limited edition, 60th anniversary E-Types are yet to be confirmed but, given that Jaguar’s standard restored E-Type’s are priced from around £600,000 each, expect a price well in excess of that figure."

I think if you have to buy them as a "matching pair"
"The special edition models will be built to the same specification as the two most iconic E-Types ever made – the 9600 HP coupe and 77 RW roadster" Does that mean OBL's?

I love it. I want one.
This country has been at the forefront of manufacturing and the luxury goods market since the industrial revolution.
Support our boys.
I cant afford one, unfortunately, I admit it.
£600k seems cheap to me.
Superb.

Sorry to dent your enthusiasm but they are only sold in matched pairs so you have to take both, at twice the price, obviously.

Steve cynical? Who'd have believed it
But if they'll be giving out 265 BHP, then who can't be disappointed.
Their marketing is as bad as the BBC for mixing imperial and metric measurements. BHP and Nm

I think I understand that the price could be (there is no official price for the moment)
£600,000 for the OTS + FHC pair.
If people can buy these cars, it's perfect for them, right?
Like the vast majority, I can't, but that's not a problem at all.
Jaguar employees have work to do, the image of the EType is enhanced and it brings money back to England.
I don't think we'll see these ETypes on the road for a long time, they'll certainly be on display at the owners', in the middle of some Monet or Sisley, what a consecration for a cheap sports car from the 60s!

I don't think you are cynical Steve but it does baffle me as to why a car with no history due to being a new "replica" of an old vehicle can be worth so much more than an original car with the patina acquired over time.
It seems it only needs an ID or registration document to give it credibility. I'll stick with my "old" cars.

Usually one for the enthusiastic responses, but I can't say I was particular enthused/excited by this announcement either. None of those cars will ever see the light of day on the road and will live in a private collection somewhere. It is in no way appealing to the vast number of Jaguar enthusiasts. 600 grand is a b****y lot of money.
As for what else could they do to get behind E60, that's a different discussion entirely.

#13 Re: Diamond Jubilee E-Type's
They are just cars restored by Jaguar Classic, painted and trimmed in Sliver/Black and BRG/Green. Admittedly they are sold as a his'hers box set but they will be read legal. Many people believe that as these are Factory restorations they will have a particular cache. I was in Stratstone JLR collecting my Range Rover after service and saw a car under cover in the showroom. The manager explained it was an XK140 that was in for a front suspension overhaul. It and the owners E-Type were regularly serviced by them apparently. Why the cover I asked - seems the owner does not want people looking at his car! The area was inaccessible anyway because of Covid.

If only they'd thought to consult the forum's painstakingly researched Knowledge Base they could have painted them in the actual colours.....Heuer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 12:56 pmThe former will be finished in a unique “Flat Out” Grey paint finish, which is near-identical to the colour of the original 9600 HP coupe. Hold on, "flat out" grey. Does that mean satin/old/crappy flat grey like my S2?
Excellent.
Does that mean me car has now doubled in value then?

So you pay all that money, But you don’t get any front overriders/bar, and you don’t get a glass rear window, no tool roll included, and then You got to pay again to have it converted to RHD.. The special edition models will be built to the same specification as the two most iconic E-Types ever

I can understand the price if these cars were built to a fantastic standard. Sadly, cars I have seen restored by Jaguar are not top drawer restorations. Shut lines not consistent, paint with areas of orange peel, and poorly trimmed seats with baggy leather.
