#1 Nuts & Bolts
Very basic question but how do I go about finding supplier for missing nuts & bolts as all my stock is metric?

I use Spalding nut &bolt on eBay. Excellent service and prices seem reasonable
For jaguar specific stuff then I use Win Perry (wjperry) also on eBay.
No connection to either other than as a customer

Thanks guys, very helpful.
So how do I identify what size I need if bolts/screws are missing e.g. 2 screws holding stay arm to tail gate?

Some of the parts suppliers list the sizes, as does the Jaguar parts catalog in most cases.

Chuck is the gent who runs this show:
http://www.monocoque-metalworks.com/main/
He sells sets of top quality fasteners...
I write as a happy (UK/EU) customer but with otherwise no connection.
Peter
EDIT: He's also forgotten more about how E-types are put together than most of us will ever know.

Yep, I purchased one of his comprehensive kits.
I retained all the original non-high tensile Bees fasteners where they could been seen.

They are exceedingly good value and, for quality, are the veritable mutt's in my opinion.

#9 Re: Nuts & Bolts
The parts catalogue for your specific model is an absolute essential if you are missing many fasteners . The individual fasteners have numbers which contain a code to denote their type, thread and length. Thus purely by way of example the setscrews which hold the headlamp scoops in are 2 of UFS 119/6R and 4 of UFS119/8R which means UNF thread in size, setscrew , 1+ hexagon, 19 is diameter in 100ths of an inch ( this equates to 3/16) 6 means 6/8 inch long and r means wrench driven
The codes are given on this list

I hope this will help

I printed off the nuts, bolts, washers etc codes from the forum and covered the pages in plastic film as I used them so often (in conjunction with the various spares books) to get the correct items.
Invaluable!

For really high-quality fasteners, check with Aircraft Spruce & Specialty. AN (aircraft)-grade fasteners are SAE UNF threads and the quality is superb. I prefer to use AN-grade hardware in critical applications. Surprisingly, prices aren't too far beyond the hardware-store stuff. ACS is based in California, but they have UK and European subsidiaries.

Christopher, I downloaded the parts catalogue from E-type parts, which is very detailed, but they only give part numbers rather than the detail spec that you indicated to use with the Fastener ref guide. Is there a better catalogue around?

Yes, sorryI I should have made it clear, it is the official Jaguar Parts catalogue, widely available as a reprint, which has all the details . The various vendors' catalogues are not as comprehensive

Thank you to all for your very valuable feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I now have the Fastener Guide and a list good recommended suppliers. Now just got to get hold of an official parts list which is being a bit elusive at the moment.
