Keep it quiet.
#1 Keep it quiet.
I would like you to keep this within the forum and It is not to be spread outside, but at this moment in time my E Type has no oil leaks.
No, this is not a Donald Trump Tweet and unlike like him I can both get Covid and also spread it.
I have checked to see that i did actually put oil in the engine and yes i have run the engine.
As this must rank along with discoveries such as penicillin and a cure for Covid, i am expecting any day now for an invite to the palace and a nomination for the world peace prize.
Viewing can be arranged but you must be very quiet so as not to
disturb any gaskets.

So, how did you achieve this? All new gaskets with modern materials?

i renewed both cam cover gasket and also put clear liquid gasket sealant on both sides of the gasket I replaced the sump gasket and rubber ribbed rear bearing cap seal again all bedded in liquid gasket sealant. So nothing really special done but at this point in time it is not leaking oil. How long this will last I don't know but for now I am basking in the glory.

That’s not good news Tony, how you gonna stop the underside from rusting?

I was thinking of spraying it with oil. Then again that kind of defeats the object.

Its not just the XK engine.
I remember going to Triumph Motorcycles at Meriden during the time of the co-operative one evening. Bikes that had been test run that day and were awaiting crating for shipment to the USA were dripping oil.
Still best of luck with your non leaky XK.
Cheered my Working From Home day up no end.

No 1 Off to spec savers!
No 2 Remember the last time you drained the oil at oil change …. did you find that the cost was lower than expected.
No 3 Did you put the little plug thing back in?… are you sure….???
No 4 Do you have a garage fairy? if so is it for hire?
and lastly ….keep taking the tablets.

Tony,
I don’t know if “yours” is male or female ...so ..”it”.
Give “it” a gentle clean rag smooth down on the back of the seat, wipe it’s eyes, give it a fresh drink, ......
Then give it some stick on your favourite test road....ENJOY.
Come back speak nicely to it, debug the face, ......then give it some more oil!,,,!!!!!
