#1 boot board and seat board covering.

Post by Stevejaguar » Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:29 pm

Hi my series 1, 2++2 has the boot board and the floor board behind the rear seat trimmed in carpet. It looks a professional job, all edged in vinyl and with the correct runners with rubber inserts.
All the trim kits that I have seen and all the factory fit photographs show the covering as vinyl.
Any thoughts?
Steve.

It should be thin non-stretch vinyl but if it's carpeted nicely and you like it, who cares? If you're worried about values, change it to original the day before you sell it so it's pristine...

Thanks Peter, the existing is a mess so I am going to replace it. I will do it in carpet to match the rest of the car ( If I ever get the welding finished). Not worried about value just want to get it up and running again so I can use it and the carpet is rolled up waiting to be used.

Hi Steve,

Carpet is far more durable for the boot boards. The vinyl being much more likely to rip if you actually use the back for carrying anything.
I have often wondered why Jaguar didn’t choose this option originally.
