#1 Terribly British
Spotted at the Terribly British Day in Queanbeyan was John Wilson’s latest, a supersized S1 etype, wider and taller, full height doors, V12 and xj13 themed rivets and other details.
Johns earlier build was an XJ13 replica, complete with quad cam V12, according to his wife a very nice car if you didn’t mind engine noise and didn’t need to carry more than a credit card ...

Yes, most terrible indeed. Looks like this started out as a modern car modified with the intent to be an homage to many and various Jaguar cars of the past. Certainly it's not an S1 E type?

It has the same bloated look as the Challenger replicas, only more so.... indeed I wondered whether it started life as a Challenger

Hi Chris ,I think you must be mistaken ,the moulds for the challenger were taken from an early E type roadster ,saw one at a car show in Toronto, very convincing until you got up close ,transmission tunnel was the big give away.

I think you could be to right, Christopher. That central tunnels is a simple folded item similar to the Challenger.
Also, does the wheelbase look right? Seems to be at least as long as a series 3.

“Another one for the "No accounting for taste" section?”
I am inclined to agree. I can’t see any of the differences between this and a good OTS being described honestly as “improvements”.

There are a couple of nice touches hidden in there.
The nine small gauges in the centre console are a clever way to lay out more information. My take on that was to embed LEDs and a second needle/gauge inside each of the small gauges and keeping the layout the same instead.
The very nicely curved speedster style side screens must be perspex/lexan, but being curved, it also means they won't retract. Shame. (I don't see how a soft top attaches - it better not rain.....)
Placing the rear view mirror low is a massive win-win. Rather than having a massive blindspot at every T-junction you pull up to, you now block out bonnet reflections and glare from a low sun instead.
kind regards
Marek

You will not find one piece of fibreglass in John's creation. It will be all hand beaten panels. John's original creation of the XJ13 would have to closest to an original as ever has been made - a true piece of art.christopher storey wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 6:41 pmIt has the same bloated look as the Challenger replicas, only more so.... indeed I wondered whether it started life as a Challenger
