Series 1 2+2, how many manual ones built ?

Hi, the XKE data site says that there were 973 series 1 2+2s built.
Does anyone know how many were manual ( like mine) ?
Is it possible to get even more specific and find out how many manual cars had wire wheels or is that going too far?

Not sure which is the correct number, but I can confirm that including mine, I now know of two manual gearbox cars

Steve : of the 277 RHD cars listed as extant on xkedata ( I haven't analysed the LHD ones ) 214 were manual , and throughout the S1 run it was fairly consistent at about 75% manual, 25% BW

I looked for years to find a project - S1 2+2 manual and my limit was 10 grand. In the end I found one, bought it via ebay, and it was a total wreck, more or less, I re-shelled it with Pete‘s help. That was 13 years ago...

Yep, an horrific 6 years for me ex ebay manual UK car.

I had a nice Aston, why oh why did I get rid to fund this.?

You name what could go wrong I've had it. "Dodgy restorer" missing parts not returned, V5 issues, and well north of £100K spent. Quite how I spent that £100K is a mystery but it's getting closer to completion.

If there's ever an award for "worst, mis-guided owner attempt at a restoration" I'm a shoe in winner. On the positive side it's looking fantastic.

at 6'2" at least I'm hopeful of getting in it.

I know of more than one S1 2+2 with a manual box which has a chassis number ending in BW. Mine was originally manual, and still is.

Chris Fell - oh indeed, there have been a lot of conversions . A friend of mine converted his after he had had it for about 20 years ! In fact, the BW cars are not at all bad to drive if they are properly set up, and they have the advantage ( in UK spec at least ) of being a more relaxed cruiser with the 2.88 axle
