I nearly sold to him, my flat floor coupe three summers ago...
He paid me a visit to look over the car and we discussed business over lunch.
I didn't like the way he kept mentioning William Heynes grandson whom he mentioned
with nauseating regularity was in his employ .

Was this the place that started making films with Heynes as a frontman ? They suddenly ceased after only the first couple of episodes

Unfortunately documents filed by the administrators as of 29.01.19 show:

Private customer creditors £907,000
Trade creditors £68,000

The good news is that despite very little in the way of assets and no money in the bank, the administrators did manage to raise £5,000 for the sale of the business and "goodwill".

The fellow related to the following link was recently arrested here in Australia after a very concerted effort by Police.

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/subsc ... de=premium

He is a serial offender having on a previous occasion swindling a single person out of AUD50K for which he only received a four month jail term; what a joke!

I don't know how it works in Australia Bill but here in the UK, of the 3 years and 7 months that Steve mentioned, he will automatically only serve half of that taking it down to 21 months. With other concessions he could be out on licence and a tag in as little as 18 months. The half million mentioned in the article is probably what the Crown Prosecution Service felt they had a strong case for a conviction with. A more accurate figure could be nearer the £1 million mentioned in the documents filed by the administrators. According to the article, he also seems to have avoided a proceeds of crime seizure and confiscation order.

1.8 million AUD for 18 months locked up. Most of us on here have just done 12 months for a lot less.

The biggest shame is that like the whole sad JD Classics saga it undermines peoples confidence in an industry that has people and businesses like yourself, Angus and others who are really talented, reputable and honest.

Hi Christopher,

The video featuring Barbary Hill was an episode from Built By Many. I was introduced to William when he worked there and he kindly agreed to be on film and do an audit of my car. No other connection.

Best, Al

Al - thank you for that explanation . I am sorry your film project came to nothing, but has work progressed on the car ? And has young William Heynes found a decent post to go to ?

Thx Christopher, all being well the car will be back on the agenda this year, it's pretty much untouched ... which in some ways is nice as I'll have a clean start. I spoke to William over lockdown and he's now restoring cars under his own steam, so 'all's well...'.

This is his Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/william.heynes/

Best, Al.

this an horrific amount given that it's all from private individuals - not that I'm decrying the trade element - it's all bad.

Sadly, as outlined his prison terms is hardly a disincentive to do it again. eg, his £900K take versus his 3 years is a nice £300K a year... can't see that not stopping him. Plus he'll be able to register as a Director in a short space of time and team up behind another individual making him even harder to track.

Just where did that £900K go if it's not trackable /returned? You'd have to be a pretty naff businessman to loose that amount over what seems a short/few number of customers...I smell a whiff of deliberate redistribution.

Having been on the wrong end of a £30K loss myself, it's both easily done and just as hard to reclaim given the cost of representation and the capacity to gain justice under the current system. I well recall my solicitors account 1 month having a £100 item against a 30 minute phone call from the restorer just to dispute the facts..... within a few weeks you soon realise - despite the size of your balls at the outset, the reality is, settle and walk away with what you can as soon as you can.
