#1 Pattern chrome parts poor fit?

Post by Ash » Thu Feb 29, 2024 10:08 am

Hi all

I have recently been 'tentatively' searching for a project E-Type S1 2 seat FHC. All of the cars I have seen have either missing windscreen upper / lower finishers or A-post chromes and rear tailgate window chrome finishers. I understand these can be purchased new as pattern parts but I understand some fit very poorly. Has anyone experienced poorly fitting pattern chrome parts please as it would be very helpful to know.

Many thanks

Hi Ash.....even second hand parts may not fit other car perfectly.. you dont know the life of the part or its history or how it was originally fitted..its not unusual for new parts to be fettled to fit and even rechromed....also as a one off job its always more difficult to fit than for someone who's more experienced and knows a few tricks....basically you just need to make the parts fit...or get a pro shop to fit them...Angus.s team do a great job.. My 67 OTS was completely restored 20+ years ago by the previous owner, but the new chrome insert trim in the lower windscreen seal to the body, was never fitted. But supplied loose, i have tried to get a few classic car garages to fit this part but all have tried/declined saying it does not fit. So maybe a common problem and not just a recent one.

If anybody has any recommendations for someone to fit this in the Leicestershire or Warwickshire area would be much appreciated.

Maybee it's the part you have....have you looked at other suppliers trim....or ask a restorer to supply and fit you a trim rather than you supply the part....Steve

I purchased an upper windscreen chrome trim for my 64 3.8 fhc from SNGB & it fitted well.
