More new parts from Richard Smith:

BD11802 Choke plate and C18456 Heater plate - "They are exactly as original, they are chrome on brass whereas the other repr'os are just stainless and not chromed. They really are nice. Cheers Richard."

Surely there's a web designer out there who can convince Richard Smith to do a website.

Or does he have a catalogue? He has so much good stuff but unless you actually know he makes something you can't easily find out, short of ringing him which for me in Australia is impractical.

Richard supplies to all the usuals so you can buy the parts from them. He is a wholesaler but does supply direct at Stoneleigh and to those who know what he does, like Forum members. No website but you can email him with your needs for both reproduction and original parts.

Hi David

Just for your info I've made the nylon bushes which connect the links to the main pivot on the wiper rack. They have the correct nib on them to stop them rotating:

Exhaust Manifolds C18396 and C18397

Image

Julian Barratt just sent me this:

"Hi David,

New product – this is a big one in my opinion, but that’s probably because I had to pay for the tooling!

This is the 6 cylinder manifolds that we have remade from scratch with brand new tooling base. We remade these using our 3D scanning technology to get a result that is much closer to the original that what has been on the market for the last 30 years + (ever since we first re-tooled these in the 80s probably and we have moved on somewhat since then). The new tooling also means a much better casting allowing for a better chance for the enamel to stay on. We are really pleased with these and we are actually selling quite a few to customers with no intention of putting them on a car – they are quite decorative…

Any questions let me know."

I wonder what "better chance for the enamel to stay on" is in real world. Apart from that, I bought replacements for the manifolds from SGB three months ago and the aspect was superb (I don't know if they are or are not the new ones Julian is announcing now)

SNGB sell them without the enamel if you want to simply polish them or seal with BBQ paint.

Jaguar Classic, reproduction 3.8 engine block...
Image
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.co ... block.html

Eye watering price but Interestingly - the block can stamped to match your ‘original’ Engine number..... ?? Yikes, 100% genuine/matching numbers (but casting date stamped 2020??)

It does say in the small print the stamping will include an "asterix" to denote a replacement block. I suspect that rather than you getting a French comic character, you will get an asterisk.

Julian has emailed:

"We have made the 11AC style self regulating alternator with a 70Amp output (compared to the usual 55). Lucas branded – great if you are running any upgrades on the car.

They also say that it will be stamped with an asterisk in addition to your own engine number to signify a replacement.

Without wanting to look too stupid, does this look like the original alternator on an S1 car?

I saw this on one an E Type forum some time ago, as a modification to keep the alternator cooler.

Julian has been in touch regarding two new, and quite impressive, products:

C20697 - Rear view mirror for the fixed head cars redesigned from scratch with better adjustment than previous, Lucas marked and boxed:
Image

C16336 – motif bar badge – "the photo doesn’t do this justice but we have put a lot of work into these and they look really sharp":

Both available now from SNG Barratt.

I’ve bought the rear view mirror. Great quality, although I’m not sure if this mirror corresponds to a Mk II rather to an E Type (perhaps they are the same). The problem is that I can’t place it on the origanal foot and nut (see picture), perhaps SNG Barratt should explain how to proceed. Do I need to buy a foot and nut from them, if available?
