All the saloon's and the FHC used mirror #608 but the saloons had a different mounting foot. The new mirror should fit your original mount.

David is correct - the mirror will fit to an original mouting foot. If you are struggling to fit, please do get in touch with us and we will be happy to advise.

Thank you Julian, I begin to suspect that my problem is the mounting foot, I’ll check as soon as I’m back of vacations and revert if needed. In case I need it, do you sell any reproductions of the original mounting foot?

Tim Goldthorp of Classic Quality (Parts) Ltd has been in touch with a new part many may be interested in:

"Quick email to say we have now manufactured a mechanical oil pressure gauge kit with the correct 0-60 gauge rather than the 0-100. The kit also comes complete with a union that replaces the electrical sender making it a very simple and straight forward kit to install. Please find a couple of pictures attached.

These retail at £125 plus vat and shipping but I can offer them to the forum members at a discounted price of £116 plus vat and shipping."

Mechanical oil pressure gauge kit

Correct Smiths 0-60 gauge rather than the 0-100 that is currently on the market
Suitable for Jaguar E-Type, Mk2, S-Type, 420
Kit comes complete with gauge, oil pipe, union and washers
The union supplied screws into the cylinder block filter head replacing the electric sender
This kit is a direct replacement to the original electrical oil gauge and sender unit which is notoriously unreliable and inaccurate
All parts are manufactured in the UK

To be clear the V shaped bezel is S1, rounded is S2. Easy to swap between them.

Julian has brought Christmas forward and has released a range of premium reproduction parts:

C37217
A V12 product was remade by us in 2020 having previously been unavailable and is miles better in terms of casting quality than previous.
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... 0c37217%60

C24686U
Camshaft sprocket for XK engines precision manufactured in the UK and the best quality version on the market. This was made in response to the other versions available as there was complaint that these were not high enough quality. This new one is more expensive than others on the market but we are always told that customers are prepared to pay a bit more to get something that works – so lets see.
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... 0c24686%60

9750*
The handbrake fork again made from scratch in response to customer demand ref others on the market. We are confident that this is perfect match vs the original.
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... %609750%60

8636
These aren’t a big seller but we have remade these in 2020 – the advantage of the ones we have made over previously available is these are an exact copy of the OE wiper rack, the wiper spindle operating arms being three different lengths and sweep correctly.
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... %608636%60

C17872K*
Heater control knob. Again, not a big seller but we are really pleased with the finish that we have achieved on these – brand new tooling and an authentic feel to the part.
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... 17872K*%60

C17912
In this case, I have a “before and after”. We remade this choke knob this year as the only ones available were quite poor in terms of finish and the writing was smudged – I have attached a photo of the previous. You can clearly see the difference on the new ones we have introduced:
New:
Image
Old:
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... f5fa812ecc

C18711
Heater Box Air duct for E-Type Series 1 & 2. Not the most exciting product but one that needed improving – which we did with new tooling this year and we now have good stocks:
Image

https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/UK ... C18711*%60

C4405
A small but crucial part that we have remade this year. When we were trying to come up with some wording to market this (its not easy) – our man Pete came up with the following:

"Hidden deep inside the XK and XJ timing chest, this small but vital machined part has been historically abused by mechanics with improper tools and too little time. If the teeth are damaged or the body misshapen, it will not hold the upper timing chain tensioner steady during adjustment - leading to a poorly adjusted, noisy chain. So if a rebuild is in the offing, look carefully at this little piece of engineering and remember that a new made replacement is now available from SNG Barratt Group."

Forum member Barrie (tinworm) has these for sale:

"I have for sale new reproduction S1.5/S2 ignition switch brackets .These fit on the steering column of the Federal S1.5 LHD and the early S2 when the cars had the column lock casting but the lock was not fitted. I only have 13 in this small run.

I also have made S1.5 RHD brackets - these were not as far as I know supplied by Jaguar as only the Federal cars had the collapsible column. With this bracket you can have the indicator switch on the correct side for RHD. I have only made two of these for now. All brackets are powder coated and are priced:

S1.5 £55 LHD and RHD
S2 £52 LHD and RHD

Plus post of course. No vat as I am not vat registered.

Please pm me if interested

Barrie"

Just received this from Forum member Grischa:

"As the E-Type under dash vents BD25733 / BD25734 are no langer availlable I went to a professional CAD engineering company who made a complete CAD data file of the part. This was sent to a professional 3D printing company and they produced brand new parts made of PA11 carbon material in perfect quality. Much better than scanned items. Connectors between the shaft and the operating cable are made of PA11, too, instead of metal. To manage costs there were some 20 pieces made.

So if anybody needs new vents for his E-Type or S-Type - here they are.
Price is € 120/pcs for the whole unit if buyer does selfassembling.
I can also provide the air diffusor bit only, as this part is spoiled at most cars, for €40/pcs.
These diffusors fit to the original parts, even it is quite a tight fit.

These prices have included 19% German VAT, shipping comes on top. Buyer pays custom duties if delivered to the UK. Payments can be made to my German bank account, my UK – bank account or via Paypal.

Please email me for availability:

grischa@hertenstein.info

Thank you.

Regards,

Grischa"

New product from SNGB:

Hi David,

Hope all is well.

Quite a significant new product for us is the V12 exhaust manifolds which we have retooled from scratch using modern technology and we are really pleased with the results. These were a product we originally made probably 25 years ago and the tooling we were using was well past its “best before” date but these new ones have come out really well. Its part number C39109 and C39110 – they are showing as out of stock online at the moment only because we have quite a number of backorders but available stock will be with us next week.

BD BD19714AS

Julian has been in touch to say they have remade the the RHD steering column housing piece in much higher quality:

Worth noting that up to cars 850547/860646 you need the straight sealing ring BD20589 rather than the convoluted rubber seal:

From Julian:

"All of the following are smaller items and were generally not available previously – in the case of the oil pipe strut, this was unavailable for many years. Mostly not complicated but all developed in house in response to customer demand/feedback."

Julian has ben in touch to say they are now producing 6 cylinder cast manifolds in a heat proof painted finish:

Image

This means we now have a choice of bare metal, painted or black vitreous enamel finish. These are all made using the brand new tooling SNGB developed last year. The paint finish will mean manifold's can be easily refreshed, probably without removing them from the car.

More brilliant news from Julian:

"We have re-introduced the Girling Shocks for the 6 cylinder E-Type range. These shocks are designed to have the same handling characteristics as original and replace the no-longer available BOGE branded shocks – which were very popular. We have been running a trial set of these Girling shocks on 50EE all year and I think they handle really nicely."

Julian has been in touch with a list of new or improved parts:

BD27181 Fuel pump mounting bracket:
Remade in response to customer feedback of other version on the market. Ours have been made to the spec of an original sample and include captive nuts to aid fitment.
Image

C23601* Fuel filler cap
This was one that has been on old tooling for a long time but we have gone to town on the new tooling. Improved in house by our Design Team. Now die cast to OEM spec using brand new tooling to remove surface imperfections. With it's high quality mirror finish and we have also improved the spring clip to improve functionality.
Image

C36901 Aerial
New version of the manual aerial with an improved fitment of the chrome teardrop and other internals
Image

C16367 Courtesy Light Switch
A proper old chestnut this one – Angus Moss was well aware of the fitment issues of the previous one and is “thrilled” with these new ones. Basically, they are now the right size to fit E-Type… sounds simple, but its been anything but!
Image

C25492* and C25493* Steering Rack
These are more of a “back in stock” than new product but… these have had a full design review since we first remade them a few years back. We have made some changes to the rack itself to improve feel and longevity.
Image

SBS5000 Headlamp Bowl
Another old chestnut – for a long time these have been adapted from a similar bowl that fitted other models and were not quite right. Now, they are spot on for E-type after full tooling investment.
Image

C19919CONV Submersible Fuel Pump Conversion
This was one I covered on the Forum a while back – conversion to move the fuel pump to external on the 3.8 cars.
Image

BD20097 and BD20098 Door Handle Remote Control and Link Assembly
This is one that has been brought in-house and has been tested relentlessly – bit of a tricky item but we are very pleased with the results. New remote door lock assemblies are a complete re design to OEM spec.
It now features a precise cam lobe operated arm in 3mm steel controlled by perfectly tensioned springs for ease and accuracy while operating the door from the inside of the vehicle.
Image

BD20664 and BD20665 Front Mudguards
In response to customer feedback of what was available. These have been reengineered by our design team and remanufactured in house by our metal fabrication team to original specification. The parts have been finished with a durable automotive grade powder coating to improve longevity..
Image

C38746U Windscreen Washer Jet, Dual
Dual washer jet – brand new tooling and revised design. LWB models.

#98 Early Header Tanks

Post by 1954Etype » Tue Aug 08, 2023 9:24 am

As mentioned, we are working on producing a new, early header tank which will be as close as we can get to the original. The only difference will be the swages on the inlet and outlet pipes (the originals were straight but we feel you won't be able to see the swage with the hose fitted and it will make for a better seal).

The tanks will be made out of brass and dipped in the original primer (as per sample colour) then painted in hammer finish (as per sample colour).

Please see photos for details.

Note that these tanks are correct for the following cars:

Up to: 850656/879043/861090/888240

I will advise pricing when we sign off the prototype in the next few days. If you are interested, please PM me.

From Forum member Loïc: (typea59)

"From France and Brittany in particular, we are pleased to offer the refurbishment of welded louvers that are perfectly compliant with the originals. The latter seem to be present until December 61 or even at the beginning of 62. For more information, do not hesitate to send us a private message at typea59

Just received this from Mike Frank (Coolcat Corp):

Hi David:

You may be aware that I've been working on reproducing C20766, which is the unique thermostat used for Series 1 4.2 E-Types. This thermostat had full bypass control, high flow, wax-motor, and a set point of 74C. It was also backwards compatible to 3.8, and allows the use of a 7lb cap with that engine. It has been unavailable for many years, and owners have resorted to the unsatisfactory option of using Land Rover thermostats, which require either the housing or the stat itself to be modified.
Image
Image
Image

While I haven't been successful at getting this thermostat back in production, I located and purchased the only remaining shelf stock from a European aftermarket manufacturer. These are fully compatible with either 4.2 or 3.8 applications with no modifications. They are produced in stainless steel for long service life. Until January, I can offer these to your members for the cost of US$45, plus shipping. Limit 2 per person. After January, the remaining stock will be put up as a regular CoolCat offering until depleted.

Shipping price by First Class mail to any European destination will be US$16 for either one or two. For US destinations, shipping will be $5 for one or $6 for two. Anyone interested should Paypal to orders@coolcatcorp.com.

Well worth getting as any other thermostat is useless and does not block the flow when cold. Price is also a bargain compared to using the Land Rover thermostat and having the housing modified.
