Hi gents, can anyone recommend a freight forwarder for
transporting a car from US to (continental) Europe?
Thanks in advance.

Have shipped many cars with Oceania in NJ, they are fair and have good rates.

I've done two from Baltimore. Circa $1000 plus 1.5% value insurance. I used RoRo both times - once to Southampton once to Liverpool. Rotterdam zou gemakkelijk zijn en waarschijnlijk dezelfde prijs.

Pim,
I used Pangaea Cargo of Bremen 3 or 4 times, worked well. The XJS 4.0 and 6.0 were shipped to Bremen, the E-Type I had shipped to Rotterdam since the duties were waived and taxes were lower in NL at the time, due to the age of the car. I think it was Marlog Car Handling of Roosendaal who did the handling in Rotterdam. Consider the transport to seaport, seafare, insurance if possible, dock handling fees, duties & taxes on all of that.

I can't recommend a particular company to use, but I do strongly recommend that you check carefully which country in Europe you bring the car into. I brought mine into France where it turns out that a 68 E-type is not considered a collectors car and therefore subject to import tax and 19.6% VAT. I could have brought it into the UK and avoided the import tax, and then transported it to France with change!
There is a Dutch company that imports cars from the US. I spoke to this guy too late. Can't remember his name, but he was at the top of the searches in Google. He seemed to be able to manage the whole process including management of the taxes.
