Everything should be as before except you don't have to worry about photo sizeing, it is done automatically. I am running the new search indexing which is taking a while to do but you should be able to find things as before. Let me know if anything is amiss and I will try to recover it.

Many thanks for getting the new site up and running.
I’ve deleted cookies/cache but the pages have a different look depending on whether I’m logged on or not. When navigating as a guest, the pages have an appealing minimalist look with a picture header but when logged on it has a blue header and shading of the posts.
Are others experiencing the same difference?

Forum member Trond (trondvo) has kindly agreed to help out with the phpBB scripts so you will be seeing some changes to the various styles principally to include logos and links to E Type UK and the E-Type Club.

#69 Re: New Forum
Interestingly traffic to the Forum is split 67% Desktop with the 33% being from a mobile of some sort. Chrome is the top browser and the iPad is the most frequently used mobile device, followed closely by the iPhone. So moving to mobile friendly phpBB3.1 was the right decision.

Ditto again. I was concerned that it would not be quite so intuitive but David et al have worked very hard to improve it on the old forum. Excellent and many thanks.

#75 Re: New Forum
Actually there is only me. Currently the Forum is hosted on my web site which allowed me to make the move to the phpBB3.1 software and customise things to have the Forum work well for all of us. At some point the Forum will move back to the E Type UK server and they will have to maintain it but it will be as we like it rather than what some faceless web designer thinks is 'cool'. In the meantime I have added a few more tweaks.
You can now embed a Googlemap you have created into your post - e.g. directions to the next Forum meet, your planned tour of France or even you location on a UK road trip. Once you have the map just copy the link and use the 'googlemap' button in the posting header to embed it. I have also added a 'jump back to top' button to help navigate long threads - it is a grey button with a triangle in it at the bottom right of each post. I have included a function where if you quote a post that has a photo in it the photo will automatically appear as a clickable thumbnail in your new post to save space. Also you can no longer quote from the previous post, again to keep things tidy. Behind the scenes I have put in more robust anti-spammer measures (with the help of Norman Dewis ) for people registering and I get an immediate email with member details if they get past that trap.
Not sure how many of you have used the new Forum search facility but you can now not only search the whole Forum but also search within sections, topics and even within the search results themselves. You will see the Search box wherever you are and that focuses the search from there downwards. Very powerful.

Many thanks from myself as well David, the new format is a vast improvement! When I couldn't get my fix for a couple of days when the transition was taking place I had cold sweats, and could be found making high pitched whining noises in the corner of the living room.
