Anyone got any ideas how to wire up the rev counter please?

It was a take off from the coil, which has now been removed.

I also seem to remember some discussion about the type of pulse a DVI unit requires.

Dear James,

You'll probably find all of the answers you need on the Megasqiurt ("MS") website msextra.com. The tach input will need a 12v spikes or a 12v square wave and you can generate that inductive kick by putting an unused relay between the source and the tacho.

Throttle body isn't the best solution, injection wise or tuning wise as you'll soon find out as the injection happens a long way from where the fuel is going.

kind regards
Marek

Hi nice one .. it is a top feeling when the engine fires into life. . Thought about what air filter /filters you're going to use ?
As it goes I run throttle bodies on my Duratec Lotus ... goes like stink loads of tourque. And 40 mpg ..... so in my book throttle bodies are not to bad a way to go .

I'm holding back and waiting to see what Burlen release this quarter. I'm also quite keen on the new Jenvey Heritage bodies which I saw at the NEC last autumn on the aston martin

Did you do any premodification dyno work to give you a baseline?

I took out the rev counter ans shipped it to Spidya for modification to "electronic fuel injection" spec.
Very helpfull and pricing (90£ + shipping) making it reasonable not to attempt it myself.

Thanks for all that chaps.

Peter, I wish I had taken some figures from the SU setup. To be fair, I really only ran it in, it did go quite well though.

Any comparison will have to be through the seat of my pants I am afraid.

Well,

After I had figured out the firing order (which is actually easy) It fired up beautifully and settled down to a smooth idle at 800 rpm cold, instantly.

The whole map is from another etype with hairier cams than mine. This other motor had already been dynoed by Dave Walkers team. So the theory was the map should be reasonably close to my engine.

So test drive.

Acceleration is now on another level.

The E type now goes very, very well indeed. I am so happy.

Sounds like Chris Harris's racer on his Youtube videos.

Where I would normally expect to do 80mph I clocked "much more" on a private road.

Very smooth indeed. feels powerful.

I think I could have got more out of the SUs, I am sure. however this setup feels rock solid and should see me through Europe this summer.

I set the throttle pedal up to make slow speed driving easy. You have to really plant it to open up the injectors, then all hell is let loose.

Then the character of the engine changes, it develops a deep growl and you get a shove in the back as the torque pushes you back in your seat.

Thanks Philip, I am very happy with this set up.

Is it really worth me forking out another £350 to get it set up when it seems to run really well?

I will try and get some real live video footage over the weekend. I really want to get to Bicester to meet every one.So looking forward to it.

So I am going to try to arrive before miday so we can do some test drives if anyone is interested.

What fun!

Success.

Nice to hear everything turned out OK.

I wouldn't fork out any money anymore if it is running this great. Basically, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have been trying to get mine to work since last year July, and still am not quite there yet.
But at least Mr. Mangoletsi has started answering mails from Emerald so I can now hope to see some parts and new throttle cables (mine were blocked inside their housing because of wrong routing) by early May.
Really looking forward to driving it this summer!

Hope you have a great time at Bicester.

What problems have you got?

Emerald are 50km away from me so I can get you any answers.

What is the problem?

Emerald have been most helpfull. No problems with them whatsoever.
The problem was that I could not get replacement parts for the kit since Mr. M was somewhere in Greece.
As soon as I get the replacement parts, I will get onto Team Viewer and do some long distance setting up with John from Emerald.
If you are going there, give Leoni a big kiss from me, she (and every body else at Emerald) have been helpfull beyond reasonable expectations in getting this system to work.

Cheers anyway.

speaking from experience I would not get it setup on another rolling road session just yet. use it for a bit and check your plug colours and make sure there is no pinking etc if the plugs look ok then leave it.
There is an awful lot of BS spoken about the performance on various dynos.
I delighted you are happy with it.

Hi Philip .I would disagree about your rolling road thoughts. Yes there can be some BS / pub figures banded about concerning rolling roads . But the main thing is to get it on one and set up just to make sure your not over fuelling/ bore washing. And /or detination or to retarded and getting ignition heat soak , yes you could drive it for a few miles and check plugs and listen for pinking . But why wait for any damage to be done when it can be tuned / right from the off
And then when all is good that's when you can do the 750 bhp POWER !!!! run

Right,

First problem if I want to get to Bicester.

The original glass filter bowl cant take the pressure. It is now weeping.

Tomorrow I want to by-pass it.

That general area must now be at a higher pressure.

Anyone know the threadsize so I can pop down to the widget shop and ask for it?

I aim to plum straight into the main fuel filter.

Thanks boys, it was even simpler than that.

Wasn't really worth posting the query.

I just undid the metal line to the old fuel bowl filter, slid back the nut and attached the 8mm fuel hose from the other side of the old filter.

Done, thanks.

Just to conclude,

The jury is out as to whether it needs mapping or not, because the car runs very well.

Idle speed, low speed throttle control, engine response, acceleration sound and everything else is all greatly improved.

Very smooth.

I don't worry about sticking floats and the whole thing exploding into flames so much!

Haven't got any meaningful mpg data, so I will report when |I know some figures.

So I am very happy, this should keep me going for some years.
