#1 Rear window hinge locked out
Hi There
Can someone please help me to understand what has happened to my rear-side window hinge?
It is in the open position and refuses to collapse into the closed position.
It looks like there is some kind of lock-out catch but I can't see how to reset it.
All help gratefully received!
Best wishes to all

I imagine that it has gone over-centre . Try pulling the centre hinged portion forwards - it should then carry on moving into the closed position

As Christopher said above.....possibly caused by not haveing the angled shims under the part of the hinge that fixes to the body

After Chassis #861099/888302 the catch assembly was redesigned to incorporate a screw thread on the central pivot pin so when it was screwed clockwise it would stiffen the catch - - the assembly part number was changed to BD24406 and BD24407. Jaguar also supplied shims to be fitted as required under the catch to ensure it would be 'over-centre' when opened. This last version was fitted to the car with the pivot tab at the top rather than at the bottom as seen in earlier cars. It continued this way through 4.2 FHC production.
Try unscrewing the central pin tab.

I know this is an old post, but just in case anybody else need to know, the screws that hold the catch to the
frame are 6-32unc, by abour 3/8". I bought 1/2"stainless, which can be cut if necessary.
Slotted raised head countersunk set screws to be precise.

I had the same problem and I solved it. Took me a while of puzzling.
The roll pin that formed the hinge had dropped down 5mm and was catching the mechanism on closing.
Drove me bonkers until I pushed it back in place, then the catch would over center and close normally.
It is not shown above, but it is the pin that slots though part no 2756 above.
