#1 accident damage repairs / restorers

Post by Grant » Mon Sep 25, 2017 3:49 pm

Hi All

Sadly my pride and joy has been reversed into in halfords car park , the lady was devastated as am I , but i wondered if anyone can recommend a e type or classic car specialist in the West Sussex, Surrey , Hampshire area ?
it will need a new bonnet front bumpers, possibly the hangers the bumpers attached to etc etc .

of course I can google them but I wondered if people had some local personal experience .

Thank you

Grant.

Bad luck

If you're down in East Preston presumably you're not a million miles away from K&N Classic Cars just outside Bosham? Possibly worth a try? They've been around for a while and regularly advertise in the club magazine, although they're proper old school and don't have a website.

Grant - a little way from you, but I have used these guys twice before on classics - but not on the E-Type (haven't needed to, thank goodness). Based on the outskirts of Portsmouth.

They can be a little slow - but their work is good.

Hope all goes well, shame about the car

You could try Lee Ridley via the Jaguar Drivers Club, sorry don't have a better contact.
Up near Newbury if that's not too far.
Also Pitt Lane near Winchester?
Sorry to hear of your problem.

Have you thought further afield? When mine was hit it was side damage and not as bad as yours sounds, but the repair bill to strip it down and then paint and re-assemble was £6k. Angus Moss got mine done at his guys in Letchworth and they did a very good job. Quick as well.

Grant,

Here a couple for consideration in West Sussex & Kent, I am assuming that you want quality first as the bill be be paid by insurers ?

Blimey how fast was she going in reverse? There is a very good body man in my yard just outside Horsham. Does a lot of high-end classic cars.
I see him at work all the time and his work is absolutely top-quality and very meticulous. www.panel2paint.co.uk/ Pete Adams.

Hi Mike

Yes of course quality first especially as it's their insurance paying!
Have you used either before ?
And what do you mean our own ? Do you work for them ?

Thanks again I'm phoning them both now

Grant, if you look at the top of the forum banner you'll see E Type UK. They very kindly host the forum.

No I do not work for them, they are the forum sponsors. I have been to their open day and they are well worth a visit.

Robin Lackfords are also very good, closer to us both and I have had some electrical work done by them and again looked in depth at their repair & paint facilities which are very good as they will show you around - I have no connection with them apart from being a customer, but you may have a wait on your hands as they are very busy !

Hi Mike ,

Yes I saw Robin yesterday and I'm now going to E type uk tomorrow, to be fair the damage does not really show from 15ft it's just effected a lot of panels and the chrome so I can still use her and then use it as part of my restoration that I wanted to do this winter ,
We really should try and meet up before the driving season is over .

Thanks again for the Input

Can I remind everyone if you want to recommend a vendor please do so from personal experience - that is, you have used them, paid for the work and are satisfied. It is not helpful to simply throw names about based on site visits or hearsay. Therefore please qualify your suggestion by clearly stating your relationship to the vendor i.e. customer, visitor, working relationship or employee. The Forum does not want to start fielding complaints if things go wrong for whatever reason.
