My understanding is that S1 3.8 and 4.2, and S2, have a tach reading scale to max 6000rpm, with red zone varying 5500-6000 and 5000-6000rpm.
Has any "E" been equipped with one having a scale to 6500 with red zone 6000-6500rpm such as the one here on the right?

Yes - the S3 V12
Or it could also be from a Daimler V8
Incidentally, the tacho on the left of your picture is almost certainly from an XJ6

Thanks Christopher, I thought that on an XJ6 the clock was in the center panel and no more in the tach?
But the one on the right is definitely not Daimler V8 nor S3 V12: it is clearly printed "6CYL".

Could the one on the right be from a Triumph? Possibly a TR6?
I don't think any E Types had a chrome bezel.

Ah, good point about the clock, but the chrome bezel has, I think, to be early XJ6. The right hand one is certainly not Triumph, and the redline was IIRC 5800 rpm on them . Bit of a puzzle - the only possibility in my mind is a 2.8 litre XJ6
