#1 S1 Inlet Manifold

Post by Petet » Wed Jan 10, 2018 2:34 pm

Hi Sage Ones,

Could anyone advise if a series one inlet manifold and carbs will fit a series two? I'm guessing not but would just like to check.

Regards, Pete

Physically probably yes although if it is a manifold from a 3.8 series 1 the plumbing of the water jacket will not match the plumbing you have for the S2. A later 4.2 series one manifold will probably fit and the plumbing might be the same but I am not sure...

All straight port head manifolds can be swapped, although three piece 3.8 types need two water passages blocked between cyls 2&3 and 4&5. If you want to swap a 4.2 triple carb ‘log’ manifold to a twin carb S2 head you need to transfer the S2 thermostat housing to the earlier manifold so you can use modern poppet tstats instead of S1 sleeve type.
