#1 Series 1 2+2 Bulkhead Plate Vacumn Pipes: SOLVED

Post by baldyz1 » Fri Jan 26, 2018 10:57 am

I am restoring a 1966 etype 2+2 and moving from LHD to RHD.

I have been checking off all the parts on the SNG site and I spot a flange where the two pipes exit near the servo. This is a plate with two holes that goes over the end of both pipes where they exit and would be held in place by four rivets to the bulk head.

SNG show this with no part number and it is unavailable. This is the same as on the series 2. The early 2+2 did seem to get some of the series 2 component positions.

Item is 16 marked on the drawing. Might anyone have one of these or be able to trace one with the correct scale so I can make one.

Thanks
Chris

I have not seen this on my car. Same as yours, mine is march 1966.

Hi Carsten,

Do your pipes run around the back of the bulkhead as in the series 2?

If so has someone just used the single exit style flanges which could of course be right for the early 2+2. My build date was June 1966.

Thanks
Chris

Yes they do. I took them out and found them rotten so bought V2a repros.

I have lots of other S1 features indeed. Including some clearly hand made metal sheets behind the front seats to the B pillars.

Oh and a certain Mr. Pete Crespin had used some Nickles (and dimes ?) to cover up the unused holes in the chassis because he converted it from LH to RH. I still have them !

Ah that would likely explain why you don't have the double holed flange as the temptation would be to use two singles. I guess I will have to find someone who has broken a later series 2 RHD car.

Thanks

If you find a source let me know - I can use one of those too!

A J Autocraft does indeed stock the part in stainless steel for £4.80 delivered.

Their part number is VTPRP2 and original part number C25309/1 which is also available from Robeys.

I ordered from Any Hill at A J Autocraft as he was extremely helpful.
