Hi Chaps,
I am fitting my interior. Day 1 question.
What is the correct way of fitting the chrome strips, I am seeing conflicting methods.
Do not take the foam to the edge, check
Wrap the vynal under the edge 1/2"
Fix the 7 clips, as per the pic.
Try to fit the chrome, no joy yet

I have used the recommended clips on my 2 cars and it has worked perfect.
The foam is trimmed a little shorter and the vinyl is simply wrapped around the edge. You need to use a rubber hammer with a wooden block and it will work great.
Would it had been easier and/or faster any other way, Jaguar would have done it differently.

I have searched the archives to find this topic has already been covered but the images which were posted are available . Which way are the BD26794 attached - with the barbs to the top?

The clips are so shaped because they serve a function. The two big lower pointy (what look like) "barbs" are molded so that they don't grip the vinyl so you can push the clip onto the sill. On the topside, there are two small flat "barbs" so that the clip grips the vinyl and can't slip back and finally, the long flat topside is also a "barb" and is the what the inner profile of the sill will clip onto when it is snapped into place.

The clips work fine with two provisos:- firstly, old clips may not have enough spring tension to hold on to the sill and won't work and secondly, the trimmed vinyl musn't be too thick otherwise you can't get the clip on.

kind regards
Marek

Many thanks, Marek. So I take it that the image I supplied is the way they fit. I have them fitted this way but the chrome strips are really difficult to fit . Maybe I am not hitting them hard enough!
