Dunlop alloys square or round hole
#1 Dunlop alloys square or round hole
I have been in conversation with Realm Engineering about buying a set of square hole, lightweight E-type alloys. I just love the look of them, and although i like my S3 OTS with wires, another different set might be a nice option to have. Has anyone fitted either of the Dunlop style alloys, and what of your experience? I am a little concerned about offset etc, but Realm have set me an easy exercise to work out the current offset with MWS wires. Because i have modified rear arches, I run 16” x 7” all round. Second question, any one else doing these whells? Cheers guys. Barry

I fitted the realm wheels to my series 1. I chose the round hole. They looked and worked well. Adrian at Realm is easy to work with and knows his stuff!

Thanks Phil. Adrain has been really helpful, in particular with offset. He has set me an easy exercise to calculate the current wire wheel dimensions by putting a straight edge across the centre hub which streches across to the rim, and then measuring what that difference is. Important as i dont have standard wheels either in diameter or section. Best Regards Barry

I've also got a set of round hole rims from Realm. I did read somewhere that (the original) wheels with the square holes were prone to fracturing at the corners of the holes. So I went for the rounds.

I went for Realm wheels square holes as per light weight E . As for the original cracking ??? The originals war magnesium and this is a material that degrades all by it's self hence the cracking stories of old .
Yes would agree Adrian knows his stuff just measure your ET and this will give you a good bench Mark for your new wheels

Thanks guys, all your cars look fantastic. I think two sets have to be in order! Round hole one week, square hole the next. What a nice position to be in.
