I am about to replace the steering rack mountings on my S2. Would any one have any advice which are the best replacements. The current ones have delaminated after only a short period. I notice SNG Barrett do a Polyurethane mounting at £36 each or a recommended uprated mount at £56 each. The car is only driven fairly gently and does around 1000 miles per annum. Or should I go for the standard ones at around £15?
Thank you

I had fitted new ones on my S1 3 years ago at the beginning of the reassembly. On last inspection in preparation for MOT noticed that they had already delaminated before the car was on the road.
Luckily I had kept the old ones which I refitted.
You can do the replacement job without removing any other parts, but be prepared to sweat.

A local guy had his new mounts delaminate before hitting the road but it turned out the car had been on stands for a couple of years with the front suspension hanging somewhat from the rack

Hi Peter..your local guy needs the track rod ends that have the extra angular movement..available form SNGB and others.. I'm sure you already know but just posting to make others aware.....with the incorrect track rod ends the steering rack and mounts will be stressed when the front end is lifted and the suspension allowed to hang... Fitted poly mounts (from SNGB) about a year ago but for how I use the car (relatively sedately), I wish I had replaced with the standard spec with more compliance. Not a big issue (just a bit of a niggle) and certainly not worth the effort of changing them again so soon. Sorry I can't help with a recommended supplier for standard items, as I have no direct experience.
