#1 Bonnet Front Lower Panel removal

Post by 64OTS » Tue Jul 31, 2018 3:45 am

I need to get this off my 64 4.2 to do some repairs, paintwork, wiring & actually find out where the bumpers & horns are mounted. I can get the self tappers out (mostly) but the bolts are hidden. I believe the headlight sections need to come out? I did a search which pointed to a knowledge base article but the links don't appear to work. Any tips in achieving this would be welcome. I am assuming that this panel can be removed individually.....

Is the knowledge base article just a copy of the service manual? I found a copy of that, which has some useful info, if fairly generically written. Are there only three setscrews holding the air duct on? Hopefully everything will be accessible once these are removed? If anyone has actually done this a break down would be really handy, thanks. Also noticed that my new bonnet harness doesn't have the plug fitted - is this normal? I still have no idea what to expect in the horn area as I can't find any ref as to where they are mounted in these early 4.2 cars, I just know they are in the bonnet somewhere?
