#1 Uprated rear springs

Post by lyons » Thu Aug 09, 2018 11:08 am

The rear of my S1 roadster has sagged and need to order a new set of rear springs.

As the rear suspension is common to lots of cars, are the rear springs common to all or are Mk 10 /420 etc uprated or stronger than standard E type.

Also has anyone fitted platform shocks to give a bit more adjustment.

There is a lot of discussion over the last few years on this forum about replacement rear springs and ride height. Well worth a search and an hour trawling through.

In a nutshell the replacement springs available from the usuals are not the same spec and may result in incorrect (high) ride height.

With our restos we always reuse the original springs.

Depending on your situation it might be better to consider getting the springs re-treated by a spring company or possibly using some inserts to increase your rear height.
