#1 Advice please, how to remove selector shaft to change oil seal on BW type 8 auto

My 1968 e-type 2+2 Borg Warner type 8 auto has a oil leak from the selector shaft, I have removed the tunnel access cover Plate and removed the cable and lever but need advice on removing the selector shaft to replace the rubber oil seal
