Hi Rory,

Not sure your original question was answered, i.e. how do you check the clearance?

One way to do that is to loosely crush a length of tin foil into a ball and stick it in the place you want to check the clearance (a bit of blue tack should do it) then close the bonnet. This should crush the ball some but it won't expand again when you lift the bonnet, showing you the clearance.

Thank you,
I have just been on their site but could not find it so I have just emailed them asking if they still supply them.
Thanks again

Hi All,

I have just been on to CMC re the breather. They don't have any in stock & haven't had any for a while, they said they will contact their supplier to ask if they are prepared to make another one. It is a 50:50 chance they will..
Is anyone interested in purchasing one, the reason I ask... I think there is more chance if the original supplier is asked to make more than one.

I never did hear back from CMC so I chased them today to be told that they do not have any in stock and it is no longer manufactured....
Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase one of these.

So, did you get much response to your offer Rory, beside my own interest?

Hi Rory,
Going back to your OP and the Monza cap, if not mentioned previously, don't forget to solder up the little hole in the brass presser plate or you will be seeing plenty of oil running from under the cap.

Last week during a visit to my brother in S of France I also went to visit Rory and pick up my Monza oil filler cap.

Super visit thank you Rory, hospitality second to none.

Fitted my cap last week and just been out on a 25 mile round trip and no leaks

I can now see the photos but slightly concerned that you seem to be missing a hold-down stud for the cam cover. Clearly a hole there for the stud but no stud showing??

Now edited to say having posted this response the photos no longer show in Jerry's post :scratchheadyellow:
But then one of them did show up, even more :scratchheadyellow:

Well spotted Geoff, thanks. Amazing how I could miss that missing stud, and for how long :questionmarks:

... and it will go as fast but for longer as I will now be able to top up the oil without having to resort to a tool to open up the filler so won't be running low :fingerscrossed:

If you’re talking about the stud hole on the bottom right of the picture, it’s not a missing stud. It’s a threaded hole where the intake heating crossover pipe attaches on emissions spec cars. There will be another on the opposite cam cover too, the other side of the rectangular cutout in the ribs.

Yes, absolutely right Tom. I just checked up on cylinder head parts at SNGB.

So I'm not quite as daft as I thought for a few minutes

Interesting to learn of a difference for the US market emissions engines and their cam covers
Still should have had a bolt in it though?

Hi Geoff...not just for the US market....after a certain engine number...cant remember it now but the same cam covers with the cutouts and holes were used for all S2 cars....Steve
Edit..just found it.....but both cam covers have the rectangular cutout on top these were fitted on UK E engins from 7R8768 & 7R38895....
