#1 Steering Rack refurbishment

Post by AshM » Mon Nov 19, 2018 2:25 pm

As previously posted, I am having the engine rebuilt this year and whilst it is out I am completely refurbishing the front of the car.

One part without a plan is the Steering Rack. Obviously it will go back on with new track rod ends and mounting rubbers but should I do anything with the actual rack itself?

As always, value others experiences or views please.

thanks

Your on the right path. The rack itself is a pretty stout piece, just clean it up, fresh coat of paint, and lube it once installed. That should do it.

Good luck !

It depends. Does it have any play in it? Otherwise just a cosmetic refurb should be fine.

Thanks for your feedback.

No play at all, so I think just a cosmetic refurb.

Cheers
