#1 Bonnet Rear Chrome Grill

Post by mikebryan » Sat Jan 12, 2019 7:51 pm

As part of the rebuild of my 1968 S 1.5 OTS, it was necessary to replace the center section of my bonnet.
( underneath several thicknesses of filler someone had used flattend out Coke cans pop riveted to repair the old mid section...sigh )

Fortunatly the newly build bonnet is a excellent fit to the body when the rear chrome grill is not fitted. However the Chrome grill, when fitted, does not follow the contour of the bonnet hump and it protrudes about 1cm below the line of the bonnets rear trailing edge. When closing the bonnet the base of the Grill contacts the rubber seal first causing the center section to Either side of the Hump to sit about 8mm higher.
( Without the Grill in place this is noticably less )

Anyone come across this problem during a rebuild

Cheers

Mike
