#1 Front right indicator dead / help needed

Post by Durango2k » Sat Jan 05, 2019 10:25 pm

All,

I am now putting the front electrics back together, and I have it all working - except for the front right indicator.

Front left indicator is alive via a green cable with a red stripe, front right should be green with a white stripe (I guess).

Now, where is the indicator relay - I think under the dashboard ? It cannot be fuse 7, because the other side works - there are several pure green wires heading left, I checked them all.

It cannot be the switch - rear both are working.

I also found that the additional hazard flasher does not work - if I flip up the switch, nothing.

Can anyone shine some light on this - where to look next? I think that I should start at the indicator relais, if something‘s coming out there, or not.

Test if you are getting 12v on the signal wire at the light. If you are, it will be the bulb holder or a bad earth.
If not. trace back slowly at each connector along the path. connector block, bonnet connector M, bonnet connector F, etc. etc.

Hi Mark,

That‘s the point - I am already tracing it back, and current-ly I am at the 8 pin connector. Where is the next connection in the row? Under the dash I suppose ?

next one comes in, up the footwell to the connectors under the dash on the left.
Here it will connect to the rear loom, dash loom and indicator stalk.
There should be a couple of double bullet connectors to allow the branching and the signal to be carried forwards and to the rear.

Solved. I found the Y connection on the end of the indicator stalk wires. Problem, no connection from this point into the thick loom. I used a needle to follow the green-white wire up from the indicator just below the Voltage regulator, and then inside the car up to the door opening (close). The 2+2 has a relais and hazard switch there. As the loom vanishes there, and the short wire to the stalk comes out of the thick loom, I decided to bridge the 15 cm.

After doing so, it was all fine again.

Strange, but there it is.

Now, everything in the nose works, both lamps and the sides and so on.
