My just rebuilt gearbox pops out of third and has a bad shifter shake. ( It did before rebuild )
So I removed the box lid and had a look. As you can see in the photo the speed change fork for 3/4 is nearly 1/4" wider than the shown measurement for 1/2 fork. They are supposed to be identical parts. Just one small fraction of the fork was actually engaging the gear. Its amazing it even shifted.
How the heck did this happen? How the heck do I fix it?
I see a new one is around $500 Canadian from UK
The endless challenges continue.
Back to the re builders with it.

John North over on Jag Lovers is rebuilding a gearbox and mentioned problems with shift fork wear. You might want to touch base with him. Here's the thread. https://forums.jag-lovers.com/t/worn-shift-forks/369016
