Series 1 front hub carrier help required
#1 Series 1 front hub carrier help required
Hi
Need some help and advice please. Taken apart front suspension and need help as to what to do with the hub carrier where the lower ball joint comes through. There seems to be a lip (which is damaged) above the hole where the bolt from the ball comes through. I can’t work out if this is part of the casting or is removable?
Can someone explain please?
If removable how do I get it out?
Thanks
Mark

You knock it downwards to get it out!
Here is a picture of the bottom of the carrier. You can see the retaining lip quite clearly once the ring has been removed.
The problem is the top edge of the ring gets peened over the hub carrier by the ball joint over time, making it difficult to knock it out.
The last ones I have done have required me to use a hacksaw to carefully cut through the ring so it can be tapped out with a punch. (downwards)
