#1 Rear shock absorber bolts

Post by Malc » Tue Mar 05, 2019 10:52 pm

Now I know that this has been mentioned before but I can’t find it. This is probably a stupid question but I assume that the rear shock absorber bolts go in from the rear with the nut at the front to allow removal in the future, if necessary, without having to remove the whole IRS. I’ve done all the rear suspension, and very nice it looks too, just putting the rear shocks on before heaving it into place - a job I am not looking forward to even with a few helpers!

Bolt goes in from the inside with the nut at the back, which is opposite to what you have said above.

There is often not enough clearance to get the bolt out otherwise if you want to remove the rear shocker depending on exactly what car it is. Even getting a spanner on the nut can be hard in a 2+2.

Hi
If you mean rear shockerS (plural) then the answer is that the NUTs go on the outside of the irs frame and the bolts pass from inside to out ie the rearmost goes backwards and the front most goes forwards
