#1 Broken window frame

Post by Bernie2015 » Mon May 13, 2019 3:33 pm

The chrome window frame is broken in half on my Series 3 (see photos). Has anyone seen this before and any thoughts on how to repair it.

The previous owner had riveted a piece of aluminium plate to hold the pieces together but obviously it didnt work

Hi Bernie..ok so ..am i right in thinking its an ots and not a "frame" like on the 2+2 but the front upright channel?... would suggest a small engineering shop to see if a weld or braze would sort it...then possibly re chrome if needed....work out befor you take it in if there is enough room for a reinforcment plate.....Steve

It is one part of a large chrome "H" structure which bolts into the bottom of the door. You'll have to dismantle the entire door insides to retrieve it . Then you can decide what to do with the two pieces, assuming spares are not readily available.

kind regards
Marek
