#1 Diff Breather Tube 'Missing'

Post by Ian Cooke » Sun Mar 17, 2019 5:17 pm

Hi All

Whilst under the car removing the drain plug to change the diff oil, I noticed that the breather tube is missing. The elbow is there but no tube.

This gives rise to a number of questions:

1) Any ideas why the tube is missing?

2) Is it a case of ordering a new tube and 'just' screwing it in?

3) Should I remove the elbow and / or the diff cover to clean the elbow and make sure its not blocked?

4) If the answer to 3 is 'yes', can this be done with the IRS in situ as I'm not confident enough to remove it?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Ian

Thanks Steve, sounds straightforward.

Is there a trick to unscrewing the elbow? It's quite difficult to get to unless I'm missing something obvious!

Thanks again Steve

I managed to get the elbow out without too much difficulty and I'm now just waiting for the replacement tube to arrive.

It looks like the original tube snapped off as the thread from the tube is still in the elbow!

Well done...to refit you have to fit elbow first then the tube....Steve
