#1 no keys for door locks

Post by PAN4213 » Mon Apr 29, 2019 12:43 pm

hello all,

just purchased series 2 e type from U.S.
came with no key for door locks!

solution?

1. Should I approach a locksmith? in which case can anyone recommend suitable locksmith.
2. obtain new locks and keys? are these available? suitable supplier/stockist?

many thanks

Remove the lock barrel and the key number should be stamped on it or probably stamped on the actuator arm at the back of the lock. You can buy original numbered keys from Pete Groh: petegroh@aol.com cost is about $25 each if he has the blanks.

I never lick the doors of my old cars. The occasional hour(s) that I leave the car unattended, I prefer a thief to open the doors without damaging chrome, paint/metal and glass.
And I never have anything valuable inside.

$25 seems very high price for an FS key, you should be able to get them for much less once you know the number. I have a collection of FS and some other keys and just try them in turn, its not often I don't have the one I need, although I don't have them all. FS key numbers run from approx 876 - 955. Here is a link to some only GBP 2.50 each!

Hi. I've just tried to reach Pete Groh petegroh@aol.com, but it seems the email address is not working anymore. Does anyone have any idea about other address or suitable provider for Wilmot Breeden keys, not in the US? I'm looking for reproductions of the original Wilmot Breeden (UNION) keys, made to my particular code

Thank you Tim. Is this provider stamping the key with the Wilmot Breeden marks, as the originals?
