#1 Carburettor construction

Post by malcolm » Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:31 am

On the front of the SUs, where the air trumpets? bolt on, there are 4 holes but only 2 bolts go through; the other 2 holes lead in to the carburettor body. What is their purpose? Do the holes go all the way in to the carb body? Some sort of breathers? :scratchheadyellow:

They allow air under the pistons otherwise they would be operating (or not) in a vacuum.

Thanks David. Mine are blocked because sealant was used on the gasket which spread across the holes. Clear out job needed! Seemed to run ok though?
