#1 Banjo union to fuel pump

Post by Piscator » Sun Feb 16, 2020 7:58 pm

Hi, All

Following my repair to my S2 OTS SU fuel pump, I am unable to make the inlet and outlet banjo unions leak free.

Starting from the bolt-head, I have (1) an alloy/aluminium washer, then (2) fibre against the flat surface of the banjo; between the banjo and the pump inlet, I have in the recess on the inner surface of the banjo, (3) an alloy/aluminium washer similar to(1) and lastly (4) a rubber o-ring in a recess in the pump inlet.

The leak is from the pump-side ie from the area covered by items (3) and (4). Should the metal washer (3) be replaced by a fibre washer?

Earlier pumps did not have the recess for the o-ring (4), instead having a flat face and utilising a fibre washer. My present pump has been replaced before my ownership, but the banjo's may not have been, making them incompatible with the replacement pump.

I should be very appreciative of any advice or comments. Many thanks in advance.
